Here’s what you need to know about your GSC student health and dental plan…
Opt-Out Info
Have alternate equivalent coverage and want to opt-out of your student health and dental plan? Requests can be made for a limited time only. Certain restrictions may apply. Click the link below for more information.
Opt-In Info
Want to add a spouse or dependent child(ren) to your student health and dental plan? Contact your student union or click the link below.
In-Active Period
You may be in a in-active period each year while GSC collects and updates your enrolment information. Don’t worry. You can still submit paper claims for health or dental services. We will process your claims on file once your information is updated.
Once the enrolment is complete and the in-active period ends, you can sign up for GSC everywhere. Through GSC everywhere, you can:
- Submit claims electronically
- Sign up for direct deposit (to get paid faster!)
- Read your full benefits booklet
- Search for a provider near you
- Connect to the Change4Life® health portal
- Search drugs by DIN to see if coverage eligibility
- And much more!
You can even submit claims right from your mobile device. Just download the GSC everywhere app. Could it get any easier?
You’ll need your GSC ID number to sign up for GSC everywhere online and in the app after the in-active period. Remember, your GSC ID number is your three-letter code school code, your student number and “-00” (example: YGS111222333-00).
Here’s a Look at Some of What Your Plan Covers
Your student health and dental plan ensures you can take care of your health and wellbeing during your post-secondary studies by offering a wide range of benefits. Take a look the Schedule of Benefits for the details.
Schedule of Benefits – effective September 1, 2023
HEALTH BENEFIT PLAN
Prescription Drugs
- Prescription drugs eligible for purchase through PocketPills Pharmacy (eg. Vaccines are not available for purchase through PocketPills): 10% co-pay.
- Prescription drugs purchased at any other pharmacy: 20% co-pay.
- $1,000 maximum per covered person, per benefit year.
HPV Vaccines
- 35% co-pay.
Smoking Cessation Drugs
- 20% co-pay (10% co-pay if purchased through PocketPills Pharmacy).
- $50 per covered person per benefit year.
Hearing Care
- No co-pay.
- $500 every 5 years based on date of first paid claim.
Medical Items and Services
- No co-pay.
- $2,500 per covered person per benefit year for all Medical Items and Services (excluding Gender Affirmation) and Emergency Transportation combined.
- Gender affirmation (diagnosis of gender dysphoria from a physician (M.D.) or nurse practitioner is required): Reasonable and customary charges, limited to $10,000 lifetime.
- Footwear (orthopedic shoes or adjustments to orthopedic shoes, custom made foot orthotics): $200 combined maximum every 2 years based on date of first paid claim.
- Diabetic equipment: $500 per benefit year subject to the overall maximum.
- Bra (mastectomy): Reasonable and customary charges subject to the overall maximum.
- Compression Stockings: Reasonable and customary charges subject to the overall maximum.
Emergency Transportation
- No co-pay.
- Reasonable and customary charges.
Private Duty Nursing in the Home
- No co-pay.
- $2,500 per benefit year.
Professional Services
- No co-pay, $25 per visit up to a maximum of $300 per type of practitioner per benefit year: Naturopath, Osteopath, Speech Therapist (Rx required), Dietitian, Chiropodist or Podiatrist.
- Chiropractor: $650 per benefit year.
- Psychologist, Social Worker/Counsellor or Master of Social Work or Psychotherapist: $125 per visit up to 15 visits combined, per benefit year.
- Holistic Nutritional Consultant: $125 per visit up to 15 visits combined with Psychologist, Social Worker/Counsellor or Master of Social Work or Psychotherapist per benefit year.
- MindBeacon Therapist Guided Program: $300 per benefit year.
- Acupuncturist, Physiotherapist, Registered Massage Therapist (Rx required): $50 per visit up to a maximum of $600 per practitioner per benefit year.
Accidental Dental
- $2,500 per benefit year.
Vision
- Prescription eye glasses, contact lenses: No co-pay, $100 every 24 consecutive months.
- Optometric eye exams: $75 for one eye exam every 2 years based on date of first paid claim.
TRAVEL BENEFIT PLAN
Maximum Number of Days per Trip
- 60 days.
Maximum
- $5,000,000 per covered person per benefit year.
DENTAL BENEFIT PLAN
Fee Guide
- The current Provincial Dental Association Fee Guide for General Practitioners in the province where services are rendered.
Maximum
- $600 per covered person per benefit year.
- Basic Services and Comprehensive Basic Services: 25% co-pay.
ACCIDENTAL DEATH AND DISMEMBERMENT
- $7,500.
ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS/SERVICES
As a GSC plan member you have access to these programs/services.
Student Assistance Program
- Your Student Assistance Program (SAP) through Inkblot Technologies provides you with immediate and confidential help for any work, health or life concern. Your SAP coverage provides you and your eligible dependents with up to 5 hours of individual counselling and up to 5 hours of couples counselling. You also have access to advisory services including legal, financial, career, health and life transitions.
Inkblot Technologies provides an easy online intake and digital user experience by using their proprietary matching technology to ensure you find the right counsellor based on your clinical needs. The MindBeacon Therapist Guided Program™
- As a GSC plan member, you have access to guided digital therapy through MindBeacon. Offered to you and your dependents (age 16 and over), at no out-of-pocket cost to you, the MindBeacon Therapist Guided Program is an effective, easy-to-access way to receive personalized therapy guided by a mental health professional. It’s a fully digital program, so with no face-to-face appointments to schedule and get to, your therapy happens anywhere and anytime that’s comfortable for you. If the MindBeacon Therapist Guided Program is a good fit for you, you can access the program anytime via the web or app using your computer or mobile device. Refer to the Summary of Benefits in your Benefit Plan Booklet for information about any co-pays, deductibles, and maximums that may apply to this program.

- You and your eligible dependents have access to PocketPills – Canada’s leading digital pharmacy. With PocketPills as your pharmacy, you will enjoy free delivery of your pre-sorted prescription medications and vitamins. Tranquility by Inkblot
- Tranquility by Inkblot is a digital platform that uses internet-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (iCBT) to help plan members and their eligible dependents (age 15+) with mild to moderate anxiety and/or depression take control of their mental health. It includes interactive learning modules, tools, and optional coaching to help develop positive coping strategies and reduce life-disrupting symptoms.
The program is an effective and easy-to-use anxiety and depression management tool, available to GSC plan members and their eligible dependents (age 15+) at a discounted rate and can be accessed on most phones, tablets, and computers. Access Tranquility by Inkblot at www.tranquility.app/gsc. Choose from a self-guided program ($75 plus applicable taxes) or a coach-assisted program ($325 plus applicable taxes)*. The programs are reimbursed subject to existing limitations (co-pays, deductibles, and/or maximums) found in the mental health Paramedical Practitioners section of the Summary of Benefits in your Benefit Plan Booklet.
*Tranquility by Inkblot is currently available for GSC plan members residing in Canada.
