Phzio Canada provides access to registered physiotherapists who deliver a quality virtual care experience via the Phzio platform. GreenShield Mental Health
Are you feeling anxious or overwhelmed? With virtual mental health counselling, you can get the support that’s right for you… without the wait.
GreenShield Mental Health virtual counselling is unique. Pharmacogenetic Testing
We are each unique. That’s positive. And because we are unique, medications don’t always have the same effect on everyone. Knowing your genetic make-up and its influence on the way you process medications can be very helpful to you and your healthcare providers.
If you suffer from moderate to severe major depressive disorder and/or anxiety disorder (generalized or social), and if you’ve tried and are not responding to the medications prescribed, you may be eligible for coverage for pharmacogenetic testing from GenXys.
To begin, we’ll need to confirm that you meet the medical criteria so we ask that you and your physician or pharmacist complete the required pre-authorization forms. When approved, the cost of pharmacogenetic testing from GenXys will be eligible for coverage under the Medical Services benefit of your GreenShield health plan.
Next, you visit the GenXys web page to register and set up your own account. GenXys will send a home collection kit to you, with instructions for self-administering the DNA test. (No need to worry – it’s simply a swab of your lower gums.) Then you return the kit and your DNA sample to GenXys.When the test results are ready, your healthcare provider will receive a summary report. Of course, you as the patient, can also login to your account and review the results.
The Pharmacogenetic Test Report will include recommendations that will help you and your healthcare provider to develop a personalized medication treatment plan that is based on your genetics.
While your health plan offers coverage towards GenXys pharmacogenetic testing for the treatment of specific mental health conditions, the Pharmacogenetic Test Report can assist you and your healthcare providers to optimize treatment options for other medical conditions that may arise in the future.
