Here’s how to submit claims to multiple plans:

Your claims:
  • First, submit claims to GSC (this is your primary benefits plan).
  • Next, submit the unpaid portion to your spouse’s benefits plan (this is your secondary plan).
Your spouse’s claims (if applicable):
  • First, your spouse must submit claims to their benefits plan (this is their primary benefits plan).
  • Next, submit the unpaid portion to your GSC plan (this is their secondary plan).
Your children’s claims (if applicable):
  • First, submit your children’s claims to the plan of the parent whose birthday falls earliest in the year, regardless of the year of birth.
  • Next, submit the unpaid portion to the other parent’s plan.
Divorced with joint custody
  • First, submit your children’s claims to the benefits plan of the parent whose birthday falls earliest in the year, regardless of the year of birth.
  • Next, submit the unpaid portion to the other parent’s plan.
Divorced without joint custody
  • First, submit your children’s claims to the benefits plan of the parent who has custody of the child.
  • Next, submit the unpaid portion to the plan of the parent who does not have custody of the child.
Re-married without joint custody

Submit claims in the following sequence:

  • Submit to the benefits plan of the parent who has custody of the child.
  • Submit any unpaid portion to the plan of the spouse of the parent who has custody of the child.
  • Submit any unpaid portion to the plan of the parent who does not have custody of the child.
  • Submit any unpaid portion to the plan of the spouse of the parent who does not have custody of the child.
