Update on MOVEit Data Breach

July 21, 2023: As noted previously, Green Shield Canada has been working closely with an external third-party team to confirm if there was any impact to Green Shield Canada systems. This investigation has concluded and shows no indication of any access to or impact on systems other than the targeted MOVEit Transfer application.

We are actively monitoring and responding to this developing situation and will be contacting any clients and individuals whose data is confirmed as being compromised so that they can take any necessary precautions.  We will continue to update this webpage as new information becomes available.

July 7, 2023: Green Shield Canada continues to investigate impacts of the MOVEit software vulnerability. We are actively monitoring and responding to this developing situation and thank you for your patience.

As noted previously, we are working closely with an external third-party discovery team to confirm the specifics of any impact. Evidence continues to suggest that the impact was contained to a limited set of files transferred through the MOVEit file transfer service, and not through any other part of Green Shield Canada’s network infrastructure. GreenShield Health (i.e. Inkblot, Tranquility, BCH Consultants and The Health Depot) is not impacted by this situation.

We will be supporting any individuals whose data is confirmed as being compromised, so they receive the necessary support and guidance. We will continue to update this webpage as new information becomes available.

June 14, 2023Green Shield Canada, an entity within the broader GreenShield enterprise, is investigating the impact of a software vulnerability in MOVEit, a third-party file transfer system, that is used by Green Shield Canada, to transfer stakeholder information. The MOVEit cyberattack is reported to have affected many businesses across the globe which use the software.

Our team is working closely with external cybersecurity experts to determine what information may have been compromised. While the investigation is ongoing and the full extent of this incident is still being determined, limited data has been captured by the cybercriminals via the MOVEit software, and not through any other part of Green Shield Canada’s network infrastructure. As the investigation progresses, we will support individuals whose data has been compromised, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance and guidance.
