Scot is a man with a plan—many plans in fact as he is the strategic mind behind GSC’s financial and operational activities. That accounts for, by a few letters at least, the longest title in the GSC executive team. No decimal point escapes him as he oversees everything from financial forecasting and risk management to regulatory affairs and service operations. Good thing he’s a Certified Professional Accountant.
What you may not know: His pet peeve is typos. Like spelling his name ScotT.
At GSC, Mila takes the lead in helping us “optimize potential”. She’s committed to having solid strategies and practices in Talent Management (Recruitment, Performance, Succession Planning, Learning & Development), Total Rewards (Compensation, Pensions, Benefits), Health & Wellness (and Safety), and Labor Relations. Her extensive experience and great credentials – MBA, B.Comm, GPHR, CHRE – tell us she’s up for the challenge.

Rino is responsible for establishing the company’s vision for technology, and for the provision of all systems needed to meet GSC’s current and future objectives. He contributes to our strategic direction by leveraging his 20+ years of large-scale information technology integration and transformation management experience.
Fun fact about Rino: Despite good information available on Change4Life, Rino thinks Nutella is a superfood. He’s also a self-proclaimed ping pong champion, “wanna-be” golfer and cyclist in his spare time.
David is always ahead of the curve—whether in terms of industry trends or up-and-coming innovations in service delivery. For our customers, this translates into innovative solutions that meet their objectives— no one-size-fits-all cookie cutter approach here. He built his career through progressively senior leadership positions in all aspects of health, dental and disability management.
Fun fact about David: The acronym for David’s job title is CIMO…please pronounce it “chee-mo”, which he insists is more “exotic”.
Brent’s world revolves around service, service, and more service — he leaves nothing to chance while overseeing all aspects of the customer experience from claims management to customer service to plan sponsor administration to pharmacy services. He’s the real deal: he’s worked on both the carrier side of the business, as well as the consulting side, so he gets what exceptional service delivery means from all perspectives.
What you may not know: His best kept secret is that he’s from the east coast, but doesn’t like seafood (he's into claims, not clams). His guilty pleasure is that while on holiday he catches up on the hobbies he loves, like reviewing workplace health articles.
Carmen knows benefits… really well. And the industry knows her well too—her unique approach to sales strategy that delivers innovation with cost efficiency is all backed by a foundation of superior customer service. With her extensive industry background, she brings invaluable experience and know-how to GSC.
Fun fact about Carmen: If Carmen didn’t have a deep love of health and dental benefits, she’d be an international jetsetter doing charitable work and playing cards in the casinos of Monte Carlo.
Business just doesn’t just happen at GSC; it requires extensive planning and that’s where Cathy comes in. She and her team provide financial and analytics support to all of GSC and deliver all the metrics for both our operating plan and our strategic plan. They also conduct analyses and generate recommendations to ensure improvement in GSC’s performance.
Fun fact about Cathy: When not obsessively planning for GSC, Cathy plans trips for herself to wine tastings, dog shows and sports events.
Ashok helps lead everything IT—strategy, architecture and portfolio management—all to deliver innovative business solutions to GSC customers. He has unique experience leading transformational systems projects with strategic expertise combined with a daily commitment to detail.
Fun fact about Ashok: This IT expert plays competitive cricket…he wants to be a GSC website model in his all whites.
Charles heads up our HBM+ business unit, providing our partner clients with the advantage of superior business technology and expertise to benefit their customers. He brings to this role in-depth experience overseeing large-scale client initiatives where he consistently exceeded service delivery and financial expectations.
Fun fact about Charles: He’s a strategic business man by day, and a pilot by night.
Sherry is the Chair of both the GSC Board of Directors and the GSC Foundation and Green Shield Benefits Association. Sherry, a licensed pharmacist, served as President of the Canadian Pharmacists Association in June 2013. She currently continues to serve on OPA’s e health task force. Sherry has been active with both her profession and her community having served on the Ontario Pharmacists Association (President), Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Ontario College of Pharmacists, the Waterloo Region Wellington Dufferin District Health Council and the Advisory Council of the School of Pharmacy, University of Waterloo, where she still participates as a lead interviewer.
Sherry holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Toronto and an Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D) designation. In 2017, Sherry was named one of Canada’s 100 Most Powerful Women, Accenture Directors category for a second consecutive year. Sherry has been a GSC Board member since 1997.
Zahid joined GSC as President and Chief Executive Officer in September 2018. Zahid has over 25 years of industry experience, and before joining GSC, he held a number of executive positions at various global firms. Zahid is an actuary who has earned Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) designations, and holds an honours degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Western Ontario. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. In addition to his role at GSC, Zahid chairs the Board of the Alzheimer Society of York Region and is a Board member and governance committee chair with the York Region Children’s Aid Society.
Bertrand is the chairman and co-owner of Galenova Inc. and of Gentes & Bolduc, Pharmacists Inc. He has 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Bertrand is active on several boards including Prevtec Microbia inc. and Sterinova Inc. of which he is a co-founder and shareholder. Bertrand is a lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy at University of Montreal. In 2014, he became interim President of l’Ordre des Pharmaciens du Quebéc (Québec’s College of Pharmacists) and he was elected in 2015 for a 4-year term.
He holds an MBA from HEC Montréal Business School and a Bachelor in Pharmacy Degree from the University of Montreal and holds an Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D) designation.
Lynn is the Chair of the Independent Audit and Oversight Panel of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in Geneva. She is also a Board Member of the Public Sector Pension Investment Board of Canada and Somerville College Development Board, Oxford University. She has recently retired as Chair of the Consortium Board of International Agricultural Research Centers in Montpellier, and retired in 2009 as COO and CFO of Foresters Financial.
Lynn is Fellow of the institute of Chartered Professional Accountants in Canada, also a Fellow in the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Management Consultants, and holds an Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D) designation. She has an Honours MA degree from Oxford University.
Ken retired as National President of the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) union and General Vice President of Canadian Labour Congress and Member of Canadian Automotive Partnership Council in 2013. Throughout his tenure, he was responsible for negotiating and bargaining multiple collective agreements with major employees in Canada and led the successful merger of the Canadian Auto Workers Union and the Canadian Energy & Paper Union into the formation of Unifor. Ken is very active in his community, supporting organizations including: United Way, Easter Seals, University of Windsor, Canadian Mental Health and many other not-for-profit groups. In 2013, he received an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Law from the University of Windsor.
Mary Catherine has extensive experience in health care, including former Executive Director of the Council of Academic Hospitals of Ontario, former Assistant Deputy Minister in the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, Past Chair of the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority, past Chair of Patent Medicine Prices Board, and past director of the Hamilton Science Center. Mary Catherine is active on several boards and provincial government committees including Director of the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer.
She holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Saskatchewan and is a licensed pharmacist in Ontario and Saskatchewan.
Sharon is Head, Insurance Investments Strategy at OMERS. She previously served as President, Aviva Insurance Company of Canada and President & CEO of Swiss Re. She has extensive experience in both the Life & Health and Property & Casualty insurance industries and previously served on several boards including the Insurance Bureau of Canada, Canadian Life & Health Insurance Association, Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction, and Reinsurance Research Council.
Sharon has actively volunteered for Junior Achievement of Canada and has held Treasurer and President and Chair of the Board positions for various non-profit organizations. Sharon has been a GSC Board member since 2016.
She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto, is a Chartered Accountant/Chartered Professional Accountant and holds an Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D) designation.
Edward is Vice-President and Principal of Brighton Pharmacy Group in Woodstock, Ontario. Edward is an accomplished pharmacist and entrepreneur with a breadth of experience in retail pharmacy, benefits administration, and the pharmaceutical sector. A pioneering thinker and strategist, Edward has been at the forefront of business and governance innovation, in both Canada and the United States.
He holds an MBA from Duke University; a Bachelor of Science, Pharmacy from the University Of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts, Economics from McGill University.
Monique is the Secretary General of Université Laval and also serves as Lawyer and Head, Legal Department, Université Laval and Professor, Faculty of Pharmacy, Université Laval. Monique’s teaching career at Université Laval started in 1995, and since then she has received several awards in recognition of her achievements in teaching.
She holds a Bachelor of Law Degree from Université de Montréal, Masters in Health Sciences Education, Faculty of Medicine, Université de Montréal; Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from University of Texas at Austin; Bachelor of Pharmacy from Université de Montréal and a Nursing Degree from CEGEP de l'Outaouais.
Mark is the President of Treadstone Associates Inc., a finance and technology consulting firm. He has held numerous senior positions in the technology and finance sectors, including Vice President Investments, GrowthWorks Capital Ltd. and President, International Data Corporation (Canada). He began his career as a theoretical physicist with NASA. Mark is also the President of Equestrian Show Manager Inc., the premiere software for running hunter/jumper horse shows.
He holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario and a B.Sc. (Physics) from the University of Toronto.
Alan is an accomplished executive and recently retired as President and CEO of Morneau Shepell Inc. Alan has extensive directorship and business experience in the navigation and transformation, and governance of different ownership structures including private equity boards, publicly traded corporations, family business, trusts and REITS, and volunteer organizations.
Alan is Chair of the Extendicare board of directors and also previously sat on several community based and not-for-profit boards including chairing Trillium Health Partners and AMREF Canada. Alan is currently a board member of Appleby College.
He holds an Advanced Management Program designation from Harvard Business School; a Diploma in Health Administration from University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Science from McMaster University.
Marita is President and Chief Executive Officer of Mezentco Inc. which operates Marchese Health Care and affiliates, Marchese Pharmacy, Marchese Medical Supplies, Wearever Canada and MediLink CHS. Marita, a licensed pharmacist, sits on several community Boards including the Innovation Factory, Hamilton Community Foundation, Sons of Italy Housing Corporation and the Quality Committee of North Hamilton Community Health Centre.
She holds an MBA from the University of Western Ontario, a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Toronto and a Fellow of Quantum Shift™ from Ivey Business School.
