A series of complex and unexpected changes to Ontario’s Transparent Drug System for Patients Act (Bill 102) have forced Green Shield Canada to question its support of the initiative. The attempt to establish a transparent system, where collaboration between the private and public sectors could have laid the foundation for affordable and accessible drugs, has now become opaque and convoluted. The revised bill could result in cost shifting to the private sector and consequently affect the ability of employers to continue to offer affordable health benefits.
